Dibujando triángulos rectángulos con un cateto unidad y el otro cateto de longitud un número natural se obtienen segmentos que tienen por longitud la raíz cuadrada de ese número natural. La figura así construida tiene forma de concha de caracol y se denomina 'Caracol Pitagórico'.
