This qualitative approach research employs a participatory action method, which allows us to identify the motivational state of first year high school students during the research, since there is a high level of school dropout at the basic level. Lack of motivation has multiple causes, among them family, social and economic problems. It is essential that students change their perspective on learning in order to continue with their education. Education is not about attending an educational institution, but it is the training that we acquire day by day in contribution to society. The main authors used for this research were Maslow who sustains his hierarchy of needs and therefore the meaning of motivation. The theoretical framework was also formulated with the contributions of Brunner, Vygotsky, Watson, Rogers, Ausubel and Bandura, who developed different theories of learning by discovery, experience, meaningful learning, among others. Based on this, a learning strategies workshop entitled “The hidden power” was developed, in which an Escape Room technique was used for its application, thus breaking with traditional workshops. Interviews before and after the workshop were used as an evaluation instrument, in order to identify the empirical effects of the workshop with our sample of participants. The results obtained led us to the conclusion that a motivated student increases the likelihood that the dropout rate will decrease throughout Mexico. In addition, motivation is a balance between needs and discipline, so it is not an impulse, but that which allows us to learn more every day to acquire a comprehensive education. This research achieved the desired objectives and hoped that the workshop developed will reach the hands of those students who need a change of perspective on learning, thus decreasing school dropout rates.
