This unit has been designed to suit our Basque inclusive education system and Curriculum together with the Basque Trilingual Education Framework and Eskola 2.0. It has been based on the SIOP® model, a systematic and scientifically based methodology which helps teachers cater both for content and language.

As for the subject, Digital Citizenship was chosen in the believe that building our students Digital Literacy is a must and provides the necessary foundations to support any further learning.

The unit was created in 2011 and modified, completed and improved along 2012 according to the feedback we got from piloting it with the help of two groups of 3rd year Compulsory Secondary Education in Kurtzebarri BHI, Aretxabaleta, Gipuzkoa.

It presents a collaborative project to students -building an internet safety campaign for the Safer Internet Day- which consists of seven smaller tasks, namely: understanding the project (I. Digital Citizens), working with surveys (II. Surveys), creating a cyber dictionary (III. Cyber Dic), decalogues (IV. δεκάλογος), presentations (V. Pecha-Kucha) and letters (VI. Letters) and giving feedback of the unit (VII. Farewell). Two more elements have been added in order to help you and your students build and tailor the unit: Background and Assessment.

The unit is presented in this google site "Digital Citizens" which also includes a "Coaching" section for teachers.
